One of the things people seem to frequently forget about domestic violence is that it doesn’t discriminate, says Kayli Duprest (pictured), director of operations for the Domestic Violence Resource Center in Washington County. “It’s all walks of life,” Duprest says. “We have people here who are poverty stricken, people who are quite well off, all religions and races, men, women, LGBTQ+ people.” The resource center offers advocacy, counseling, a crisis hotline, help filing restraining orders, shelter and housing support, second-hand clothing, a food bank and direct monetary assistance as needed.
