Repost from philhouser • When I first discussed the “Code Talkers” theclinkroom collaboration with m_2bulls, I spoke about how I had served with a Marine, Justin Morgan, who had a Great Uncle that was a Navajo Code Talker in WWII. His Great Uncle’s name was John Goodluck. The Marine Corps was a family tradition for Justin, much like it was for me. My Grandfather’s brother was killed on the USS Arizona in Pearl Harbor and the very next day my Grandfather enlisted in the Marine Corps. I wholeheartedly believe that many young Marine’s lives, including my grandfather’s, were saved because of the Native veterans and their languages. I lost touch with Justin and 35 years have passed. I’ve looked for him several times, but every time I was unsuccessful. I tried again this past Veteran’s Day and his picture popped right up! It was kind of strange.
