SFMOMA (sfmoma) and MoAD (moadsf) are thrilled to announce the appointment of Cornelia Stokes (whoaa_neli) as the inaugural Assistant Curator of the Art of the African Diaspora 🎉 With more than a decade of experience as a curator, researcher, and educator, Stokes has championed diasporic art histories across exhibitions, publications, and public programs nationwide. In this new joint role, she will work across both institutions to develop new scholarship on contemporary art of the African Diaspora, contribute to exhibitions and public programs, and support SFMOMA’s efforts to further diversify its collection. This three-year, full-time position marks a significant milestone in our long-term partnership with MoAD—one rooted in expanding art historical narratives, elevating distinct voices, and deepening engagement within our shared Yerba Buena community and beyond.
