There has been an ongoing legal battle at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, between current admin and former Professor, Dr. Donna J. Satterlee, dating back to late 2024. Most recently, President Heidi Anderson filed a defamation lawsuit against Satterlee, who accused her of plagiarism of her 1986 Doctorate dissertation. -Anderson says the accusations made by former faculty member Donna Satterlee have cost her speaking engagements and damaged her reputation. She’s seeking one million dollars in damages and denies the claims, saying citation standards were different when she earned her doctorate in 1986. Satterlee, who left the HBCU in 2024, alleges she was wrongfully terminated and retaliated against after raising concerns about discrimination and corruption at the university. UMES leaders and members of the Board of Visitors have publicly backed Anderson, calling the claims harmful and reckless. SWIPE to learn more about this . . . . #hbcu #umes #historicallyblacksince
