Make your voice heard🌳 In September, I posted about the rapid decline of our tree canopy here in New Orleans after a huge oak tree was cut down in my Mid-City neighborhood. In the wake of that video, I heard from so many people, including city departments, who wanted to address just how serious this issue has become. Bayou Tree Service reached out and walked Banks Street with me to talk through what’s happening and what could be done. Their arborist, Scott, was fantastic and incredibly generous with his time and expertise. They committed to replanting a tree where that historic oak once stood, and now it’s back in the ground. Trees do so much for our city. They help reduce the urban heat island effect, improve property values, support wildlife habitat, strengthen flood resilience, and so much more. This is proof that speaking up matters. You can make an impact. This is just one tree, and we need so much more, but it’s a start. If you’re interested in continuing this work by replanting...
