The moment darcuscb realised he was middle class. When nickyslimting asked Darcus this question, it became clear that he had always assumed he was working class. But when you look at his upbringing, cultural context and level of access, the picture is more complex. It’s an interesting reflection on race and class in Britain. As Black people, we’re often automatically perceived as working class, regardless of our backgrounds. And as we move through different spaces and make progress, we don’t always stop to recognise our own social mobility or are rarely encouraged to name it.
