The Trump administration has unveiled new federal actions in an effort to ban gender-affirming care for transgender youths on Thursday.
Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced the new measures in a news conference joined by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz, Food and Drug Administration head Dr. Marty Makary and the National Institutes of Health's Dr. Jay Bhattacharya.
"This is not medicine, it is malpractice," RFK Jr. said. "Sex-rejecting procedures rob children of their futures."
