CHP has introduced two new vehicles in Fresno County to enhance road safety by catching reckless drivers off guard. CHP’s new patrol cars resemble average SUVs and have already led to the issuance of about 3,000 tickets since May. The vehicles are designed to prevent drivers from spotting police cars and only slowing down temporarily. In a ride-along, a CHP officer pulled over a driver for speeding within the first five minutes. In 2024, CHP officers issued nearly 18,000 citations to drivers exceeding 100 miles per hour.
