People see the smiling pictures but they don’t always see the journey behind them. Adoption, especially foster-to-adopt is equal parts beautiful and traumatic. It’s joy and grief sitting in the same room. It’s loving a child who’s already lived a life before you. It’s gaining a family while honoring the ones they came from.
I’m an adoptive mom, but I’m also a safe place for their pain and their healing. This month, National Adoption Month, isn’t just about celebration. It’s about acknowledging the complexity, the resilience, the loss, and the love that makes our families whole.
So here’s to the parents, the kids, the bio families, the caseworkers, and the village it takes. And here’s to every child still waiting for safety, stability, and forever. 🫶🏾❤️
