We appreciate our new cyber family members just wanted to mention that we (me and Rick) are our children’s REAL parents. I see your comments asking about their “real mom” or “real dad” and the fact of the matter is, we don’t pretend biology doesn’t exist, we honor it. But we also show up every single day as Mom and Dad in the way that matters most, with presence, consistency, and love. We’re the ones in the waiting rooms at doctor appointments, on the sidelines at every game, packing lunches, helping with homework, showing up to school meetings, celebrating wins, and comforting through losses…literally doing the “REAL” work everyday as a parent. Our kids have a story that started before us, and we respect that. But God trusted us to be the ones who raise them, to give them stability, safety, joy, and roots they can grow from.
