Why I had to combo feed some of my babies (breastmilk & formula) While for the most part I exclusively breastfeed, I have had a few incidents where combo feeding was necessary. With my first two breastfeeding was successful for me off the bat, however with my third (my first 10lbs baby) I wasn’t as lucky. It was my lactation consult that suggested I combo feed those first few days of life since my baby wasn’t staying latched, losing too much weight l, and not filling her diaper the way she should.
