I think any man who is obsessed with wives being submissive to their husbands is a HUGE red flag 🚩 My husband and I NEVER had a conversation about this. I naturally followed his lead after he showed me time and time again how I could trust him with my whole heart. Marriage should be a team effort. A healthy marriage should be filled with love, compassion, respect, commitment and empathy. I think the biggest thing that is important in marriage though, is not looking at it as transactional. Not looking at it as, “What can I get?” Now, I am not an expert. I am just a mom sharing her experiences in hopes that it helps others. But I will say this, in our 12 years of marraige (and 5 babies later) it has never been a power struggle. We both deeply care for one another and always want to hear the input and feelings each of us has. I think this whole “wives submit to your husbands just cause he’s the ‘man’” narrative, stems from toxic purity culture where a higher expectation is place...
