The pictures are of the first days I met my adopted children…and to think, I didn’t really have much faith in my ability to “parent” 4 children. As far as being kind, compassionate, and supportive; well I knew I could handle that…but God said, if I order your steps and you follow the plan I have for your life, then if I bring you to it, I’ll bring you through it! And while I still don’t always get the parenting thing right… 1. I apologize to them 2. I provide them with a safe place within our home and in therapy to process their emotions 3. I never talk bad about their bio families 4. I support them in all of their endeavors and allow them to be creative 5. I communicate effectively with them 6. I’m their advocate 7. I show up for them in their accomplishments 8. I affirm them 9. I intentionally parent them individually based off their needs 10.
