No amount of training could have ever prepared us for the experience that is FOSTERING! We set ourselves up for failure if we go into fostercare thinking that we are going to "save them all" or having the mindset that the bio parents are "bad"...that's just simply not the truth. Fostercare is a beautiful rollercoaster ride where you will experience some amazing highs, a few swift turns, some trembling and shaking, and some devastating lows...but you continue to hold on, roll with the punches and dvocate for those that can't advocate for themselves. If you are thinking about becoming a foster parent, pray about it. Make sure you are not doing it with the mindset of saving the little poor children in the system. Take care of your mental health, the children deserve your sane stability. Be able to recognize that you working with the bio parents is a great partnership.
