Understand this...I pray different. Not only is my husband a black male, he's also a police officer, a black police officer. . Understand this, he's a black man first, husband second, father third, and then a police officer last. He didn't choose to be black but he chose to be a police officer. He chose to show other black and brown children that it's ok to become law enforcement after years and years of them hearing so many negative things about cops. . Understand this, we talked about his own run-ins with racist cops and how it made him feel to be pulled over and harrassed for looking like a "suspect in a crime" when he was a teenager. We discussed how him becoming a police officer was going to help not only himself, or our family, or our children, but also others that have had similar experiences feel comfortable with telling their stories and feeling represented. . Understand this, in times like this, people always want to know where my husband stand...why should he have to choose?...
