Devils captain forward Nico Hischier recently sat down with
NHL.com’s Mike Morreale discussing the advance two-way role he’s taken on over the past handful of seasons with Devils, one that has seen him become showered with fan love for the Selke Trophy.
Nico is a top five player in faceoff wins & top ten in faceoff win percentage in the league while also up there atop the Devils leaders in points, takeaways, time on ice, & blocked shots, all while focusing on his 200-foot game. “I’m always trying to be patient against these guys (in the league),” Nico said. “While I’ll always try and create and do something offensively, I have the defense mindset first. I take pride in that but it’s also my job.”
