Your Birmingham Zoo is home to not one but two species of swans! thats right two swans one "Monday's for the Birds" post: As you exit the Red Diamond Express Train Station, you can see our two Mute Swans "Spice" and "Squeak" reigning over their domain to the right. Associated with the British royal family, these beautiful but temperamental swans have strong populations in Europe and Asia, earning them a Least Concern status by the IUCN. There are also invasive populations in North America, where they use their massive size to displace native waterfowl. Despite their name, you may hear them grunt or hiss when you pass by.
