The Sussex County Miners have retained their core baseball staff, re-signing Field Manager Chris Widger and Assistant Coach Simon Walters for the upcoming season. Widger, a former major-league catcher with 12 seasons of mlb experience with the whitesox, orioles, yankees, cardinals, mariners, and Montreal Expos, returns to lead the club. Widger is also a World Series champion, winning the title with the White Sox in 2005. Walters, entering his 10th season with the Miners, will continue as assistant coach and has also been named director of player procurement, having played a key role in building the team’s roster.
