Two treasures in Tucana (the Toucan)! This constellation is one of the four ‘Southern Birds’ 🦚 seen in the southern hemisphere. Among the objects in Tucana is the Small Magellanic Cloud, a dwarf galaxy close to our Milky Way. The first image, from the #NIRCam on board the NASA/ESA/CSA James Webb Space Telescope, features a dusty and dynamic star-forming region, NGC 346, found within it ✨ The second image, from the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope, features a tangle of interacting galaxies in the constellation. This includes NGC 7733 (smaller, lower right), NGC 7734 (larger, upper left), and the less clearly defined NGC 7733N. To find it, look for the knotty structure in the upper arm of NGC 7733, glowing in a distinct colour. 📷 nasa , europeanspaceagency , canadianspaceagency , STScI, A.
