We use this closed environment drill in the early phases of training to train fundamental change of direction and deceleration mechanics. 3 key things that we look for 🔑: 1. Pushing to move (not clicking the heels) 2. Dropping the hips and attacking the ground when decelerating 3. Sharp cuts (not rounding around the cones) Each rep we give the athletes a set pattern + footwork (sprint, backpedals, shuffles, x-overs). The box pattern gives them the cue to make sharp cuts, efficient decels, and be spatially aware of their surroundings. #AthleteDevelopment #sportsperformance #strengthandconditoning#TrainSmartMoveFast
