#StudentSpotlight: Jay’shun Matthews ‘28, a sophomore business administration major at Morehouse College, is making a national impact as the Founder and Executive Director of the Black Youth Empowerment Network (or BYEN). BYEN is a youth-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering Black youth through leadership development, mentorship, and community engagement. Through his work with BYEN, Matthews was named to the HBCUniverse 30 under 30 list for community and impact.⁠ ⁠ What started as a small initiative launched by Jay’shun and his peers in 2024 has evolved into a national movement of more than 500 members across 25 states.
