Asus is pushing the envelope with its new 27-inch ROG Strix 27 Pro, a 5K gaming monitor boasting a massive 5,120 x 2,880 resolution and a 180Hz refresh rate. ⚡️
With a pixel density of 218 PPI, it’s undeniably gorgeous to look at, but those extra pixels come with a heavy tax: it has 78% more pixels to render than a standard 4K display.
Even the mighty RTX 5090 is feeling the strain. In benchmarks running Cyberpunk 2077 on ultra ray tracing settings, the flagship GPU only managed 51 fps at 5K, compared to 77 fps at 4K. While you can swap to a 1440p mode at 330Hz for competitive play, the 5K resolution forces sacrifices like an IPS panel over OLED, resulting in less impressive black levels and response times.
Early listings suggest a price tag around $800, placing it in direct competition with larger 4K OLED monitors.
