the making of runaways. this one means a lot to me. apologies for the long story… the idea first came back in may when I was in the studio with my storm brothers adamwattsmusic and josh_vida (my dream team co-writers on every song I’ve released so far) while filming aweekawayseries we had come up with a melody for the chorus, and I had mumbled the word “runaways” a few times so I instantly knew what I wanted to make the song about. soon after - I wrote out the first verse, chorus, and second verse in maybe 20 - 30 minutes. it was the first time that the words just flowed out of me. i’ve never been very confident in my songwriting abilities, but these lyrics were different. they came fast because of the conversations and lifestyle that justineverheul and I have been trying to manifest our entire relationship. thinking about our “purpose” in this life being more about getting out, seeing the world and being a sponge to whatever experience comes our way. with a first draft done,...
