We're now learning that a ski patroller who was badly hurt after an avalanche on Friday morning has died. The family of 30-year-old Cole Murphy says he died Sunday afternoon. The avalanche happened early Friday morning. Murphy and another patroller got caught in the slide before the resort opened. There's no word yet on the condition of the other patroller. Murphy's family says he was known for his kindness, intention, and wholehearted devotion to the life he chose. Mammoth Mountain received more than five feet of snow during the atmospheric river last week. It was enough to prompt the resort to close on Friday and Saturday for avalanche safety and mitigation work.
