A Queens NYPD narcotics detective from Long Island was shot twice by friendly fire by police officers attempting to stop the carjacking of an Uber driver, police and sources said. The 12-year veteran officer was shot in the leg and the hand and was in surgery, expected to fully recover, NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch said at a news conference at Jamaica Hospital. Two sources who did not wish to be identified because they were not authorized to speak publicly said the detective lives on Long Island.
