Kate Winslet has revealed that her 'first intimate experiences' as a teenager were with women. During a recent episode of the 'Team Deakins' podcast, Winslet shared that the experiences helped her understand the 'really intense connection' of the relationship her character had with Melanie Lynskey's in the 1994 film 'Heavenly Creatures'. Winslet said: "I’ll share something I’ve never shared before. Some of my first intimate experiences as a young teen were actually with girls."
