That viral video has over 20M views across my platforms. And guess what? When I came up with the video, I pretended I was giving advice to my nephew—the son YJ would eventually have, years after she taught me how to say “heart.”
YJ’s nunchi is very, very fast.
I haven’t gotten around to posting the recipe for this Pear Tatin, but you can find the streamlined version below:
3 Bosc pears, trimmed and halved
2 tbsp vegan butter
4 tbsp sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 puff pastry sheet (I used Pepperidge Farm)
1/4 cup oat milk
2 tbsp maple syrup
Preheat oven to 400° F. Melt butter in a cast iron pan over low heat. Add 2 tbsp of sugar until dissolved. Add remaining sugar and cinnamon to pears and toss until evenly coated. Place pears face down in pan. Roll out puff pastry sheet and cover the pears snugly, crimping as necessary. Bake in the oven for 30 to 35 minutes, until golden brown. Serve with dairy free ice cream.
