Moment of truth: I used to skip church when my husband was away. To be honest, getting myself and the kids dressed up, out the door, and into the building in a timely manner once felt like too much of an undertaking in his absence. I would opt to watch it online instead, which really meant that it was watching my while I did whatever needed to be done around the house. That was before I realized that God wants me in His house, flaws and all. Regardless of what I have on, who had a tantrum on their way out the door, or who refused to put on any shoes besides crocs 🤷🏾‍♀️ Now, more Sundays than not, we’re there. And if the church aesthetic for that particular Sunday happens to be casual, I know God knows my heart and I know that when I’m feeling weary and burdened, there’s nowhere better for me to be.
