People often say put your marriage first because your kids will eventually leave the house and only your marriage will remain. I think that’s easier said than done! In this season with two small children who rely on us for so much and require so much attention, the kids often come first. We’re in the thick of parenting, and, thankfully, it won’t always be like this. There will be a time in the next few years when our kids become more self-sufficient and we’ll be able to put our marriage first again. Not putting our marriage before our kids does not mean that we don’t pour into our marriage and make quality time a priority. We absolutely do! It just means that on some days, that isn’t our main priority right now. I think the key is marrying my someone you can actually enjoy navigating these seasons with.
