There are so many things about the relationship that my mom built and maintains with me that I’m trying to replicate in my relationship with my own daughter. She got so many things right, but allowing me to have a space to share any and everything openly and honestly is truly what I feel set the tone for our bond. I never once in any situation felt like there were things I shouldn’t or couldn’t talk to her about. I felt safe, I felt heard, and I felt respected.
