It’s their day too ♥️ The simple realization that it’s their day too changed everything about the kind of mother I want to be. I want to be the kind of mom that leaves room for the things they want to do, and, above all else, allows them to be kids because we all know that in the blink of an eye, this stage of our lives will be over and we’ll be onto the next.
Here are simple ways that I try to make room for my kids to enjoy their days in the midst of my own plans:
1. Putting my phone away to watch something they want to watch alongside them (even though I do NOT want to watch another episode of Blippi playing at an indoor playground in Las Vegas).
2. Making sure they have an opportunity to interact with other kids, whether that be at school, in our neighborhood, at a playground, or through a playdate.
3. Planning a simple, kid friendly activity on our “chill days,” like pulling out the kinetic sand table outside or baking cookies on a rainy day
