Getting Harper to and from school looks a little different here in Japan. When I shared before that we don’t have a car here and mainly get around via bikes and public transportation, many of my friends wondered what that looked like. Some days, when it’s rainy, or when I’m pressed for time or just feeling lazy, I take a taxi the entire way to and from her school. The taxi ride is about 25 minutes. Of course, those taxi rides add up, so I try to limit them when I can. Here’s a glimpse into my daily commute: First I ride my bike to the train station. On most days, our schedules line up and I’m able to leave Jaxson with his dad. If I have to take him with me, though, I wear him in a carrier. When I arrive to the train station, I park my bike in the designated area and hop on the first train.
