As crazy as it may sound since she’s only 3 months old, I can tell that Harper already looks to me for approval. Even my husband sees it and has noticed how she always checks to see if I’m watching her then smiles when she confirms that I am. What she doesn’t know is that I look to her for approval too. I want to make her proud. I want to make sure I’m setting the best example I can for her. Children copy the behaviors that they see, and if she’s going to copy me, I want to show her what it looks like to walk by faith, to be present, to value family, to step outside of her comfort zone when she gets the opportunity to try new things, and to reach for the stars. I want to make sure that I’m showing her how to be fierce and fearless, humble and kind, strong and resilient, always. Just knowing that these little eyes are watching has changed me.
