Nicolas Cage is set to play NFL legend John Madden in an upcoming biopic called “Madden,” with Amazon MGM Studios and Prime Video backing the project. The film is directed by David O. Russell. The movie is expected to follow Madden’s rise from football coach to one of the most recognizable voices in sports broadcasting, plus the story behind the “Madden NFL” video game franchise. Madden coached the Oakland Raiders from 1969 to 1978 and led the team to a Super Bowl XI win in 1977. He later became a longtime NFL commentator and died in 2021 at age 85. Christian Bale is also set to star as Raiders owner Al Davis, with John Mulaney playing Trip Hawkins, Kathryn Hahn as Virginia Madden, and Sienna Miller as Carol Davis.
