One of the hardest conversations I have as a dermatologist is telling a patient that the spot they’ve been ‘keeping an eye on’ isn’t harmless, it’s skin cancer. Not every concerning mole follows the rules, and waiting for something to go away can delay diagnosis. If a spot is changing, bleeding, itching, or simply not healing, it deserves to be checked.
