2025 was a year of nonstop action for Berkeley. In no particular order, UC Berkeley Chancellor Rich Lyons testified in Washington, D.C., in front of members of the U.S. House, Cal fired head football coach Justin Wilcox after nine years, Turning Point USA hosted an event on campus that was met with emphatic protest and Gov. Gavin Newsom gave a press conference from Campbell Hall. Throughout all of these events, the Daily Cal’s photo staff has been present, documenting small pieces of this frantic year. These are some of the many highlights.
1. School spirit flowed through campus during the Tree Chopping Rally before the Big Game.
2. Following the entrance of ICE vehicles into Alameda’s Coast Guard Island, a large crowd of protesters formed at the entry point of the island.
3. Riot police formed a barrier between Turning Point USA event attendees and protesters at UC Berkeley.
