A new year invites new habits.
A morning ritual helps us cross a threshold—from rest into wakefulness—softening the transition into the day and creating space for intention.
This carousel is adapted from "Step by Step: Create a Morning Ritual" by Tiu de Haan (tiudehaan1), published in the "Art of Awakening" (2021) edition of Spiral, the Rubin Museum’s multimedia publication offering perspectives at the intersection of art, science, and Himalayan cultures.
About the artwork:
This painting of the Medicine Buddha in his palace illustrates the opening chapter of the Four Medical Tantras (Gyu shi), which many medical students and doctors recite each morning in homage to this buddha and his medical tradition.
