A slightly-soggy Portland tradition rolled ahead on New Year’s Day as a group of bike riders launched from downtown on a looping 8-mile tour of the city.
The annual event, organized by the nonprofit The Street Trust, offered a modest crowd of about 20 riders a chance to see some of the city’s newest cycling-friendly infrastructure, including the new Southwest Fourth Avenue bike lane as well as a pedestrian passage that tunnels beneath the Portland Art Museum.
