As an athlete who loves both, they are similar but still two different sports ❤️ Not “instead” of but pour into the other one as well as. One does not take place of the other. Flag football and tackle football share the same heartbeat, but they are not the same sport. Flag emphasizes speed, spacing, and finesse, while tackle demands a different level of physicality, strategy, and resilience… where bodies collide and durability and discipline truly matter. One is not a stepping stone to the other, and one is not “more evolved” because it seems safer or is easier to package. They are parallel paths and each are worthy of respect. If we can pour investment, media, resources, and celebration into flag football, we can and SHOULD show that same energy, funding, and belief in tackle football which has been around for decades.
