To celebrate the holiday and ring in the new year we broke open our bottle of First Release Single Barrel Single Malt Whiskey from Barakat Distillery in Taybeh, Palestine. I bought this during a solidarity delegation in December 2025 when we were visiting TayBeh, a Christian village where settler attacks were on the rise. This the same city that produces Taybeh Beer and has the church with the longest continuous worshipping congregation in the world. The day we were there happened on the release day of their first batch of their whiskey so, since part of the purpose of our delegation is to engage in a little resistance tourism and support the local economy, many in our group did just that. We even had the makers sign a few bottles to commemorate the day. The whiskey is top shelf and smooth.
