Between carrying a 30-pound tuba in the Florida heat and navigating one of the nation’s most demanding nursing programs, she’s learned that discipline, teamwork and perseverance are keys to success, both on the field and in the classroom. Inspired by her mother’s childbirth experience, Steiert is determined to become the kind of nurse who makes a difference for patients and families — a commitment she balances with her passion for music and the camaraderie of the band. “Balancing nursing school and band can be challenging,” she said. “But it is doable.
