The Pawleys Island Chapel, formally known as the Pawleys Island House of Worship, is a cherished landmark nestled on the marsh side of Pawleys Island, South Carolina. Originally constructed in 1946 as a World War II barracks chapel in Georgetown, it was relocated and rebuilt on the island in 1947 on land donated by Dr. and Mrs. J.H. Porter, with the stipulation that it be used solely for religious worship.
This quaint, non-denominational chapel hosts Sunday services during the summer months and serves as a picturesque venue for weddings and other special occasions. Over the years, it has withstood several major hurricanes, including Hazel, Hugo, and Matthew, with the community rallying to restore and preserve its simple charm and historical significance.
