Duke may have defended the Alamo to his last breath on screen, but at the 1960 world premiere of The Alamo in San Antonio, he launched a full-on attack on dessert. Nearly 20,000 people joined the celebration at a televised outdoor dance in a grocery store parking lot — a Texas-sized party for a Texas-sized film.
