Foreign visitors spent over 200 billion KRW (about 138 million USD) on medical services in Korea in just November 2025 alone ๐
By category, dermatology took up the largest share, accounting for about 58% with 129.1 billion KRW (around 89 million USD). Experts say this is because, unlike plastic surgery, dermatology treatments usually require very little recovery time, and with more global celebrities coming to Korea for skincare, more tourists are following in their footsteps.
Looking at data from 2024 as a whole, foreign visitors spent about 580 billion KRW (around 401 million USD) on dermatology alone, making it the No.1 medical expense category that year.
Korea has long been a popular destination for โmedical tourism,โ but it used to be centered mostly around plastic surgery. Now, thanks to the global rise of K-Beauty, that focus is shifting toward dermatology.
