I don’t want things to be perfect because I’m Type A or high-maintenance. I want them perfect because somewhere along the way, I learned that mistakes cost me safety, approval, or peace. Perfection feels like control. Control feels like protection. And protection feels necessary when your nervous system is convinced that getting it wrong means disappointment, judgment, or consequences you don’t have the energy to handle. So I tweak. I overthink. I wait. I convince myself I’m “almost ready” when really, I’m just scared to be seen before everything is locked down and flawless. The hard truth? Perfect has kept me polished, but it’s also kept me stuck. I’m learning that nothing actually changes when I wait for perfect. Things change when I choose brave. When I let it be a little messy. When I let it be seen anyway. This is me practicing done over perfect.
