🎨This painted piece is inspired by my exploration of abstract Black women and the headwrap as a symbol of identity, strength, and cultural continuity. The history of the headwrap is layered and meaningful, and I am drawn to sharing conversations around its significance, particularly its ties to the Tignon laws. Color plays a central role in this work, and I am inspired by the movement, contrast, and emotion found within the fabrics themselves.
