No better way to celebrate another successful season of Outdoor School than with wood cookie Wednesday! 🍪 Wood cookies are one of the most iconic traditions of Outdoor School. Each Penn State student counselor chooses their nature name and crafts their wood cookie at the beginning of Outdoor School. Throughout the week, their campers know their counselors by their nature names! 🐞 Nature names introduce a little extra camp magic to the trails of ODS. They invite new teaching opportunities around different plants and animals, they remind us about the abundance and diversity of the natural world, and they encourage creativity, enthusiasm, and curiosity. Plus, they give our counselors a chance to discover and embrace their own unique relationships to the natural world while they help our campers do the same!
