Around a thousand skiers carved a giant heart into the snow on a World Cup slope in Crans-Montana on January 4th to honour the 40 people killed and more than 100 injured in a recent tragedy at the Swiss resort. The tribute unfolded on the Bellalui slope, famous for hosting men’s World Cup downhill starts, before moving to the nearby Chetseron area. The event was organized by the Swiss Ski School of Crans-Montana with local ski clubs and backed by Crans-Montana Tourism & Congress. Most of those taking part were children who had originally been scheduled to race that day. Organizers said the show of solidarity drew widespread support across the alpine community. #switzerland #cransmontana
