In Italian tradition, January 5th is the Eve of Epiphany, when La Befana (she’s a witch who flies on a broom!) delivers sweets ahead of the Epiphany, the celebration of the Three Kings on January 6. Epiphany also happens to be my birthday, which makes this Italian tradition feel especially meaningful. These soft, sprinkle-covered befanini cookies are how many Italian families mark the occasion, and with my Italian roots, it’s a tradition I love keeping alive for my family.
