In honour of Canada vs USA in the finals tomorrow at the Four Nations Faceoff… let’s throw it back to when Jarome Iginla helped carry Team Canada to gold on American soil at the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City.
On a team where solidified legends like Mario Lemieux, Steve Yzerman, Joe Sakic and many others were in the spotlight… a certain 24 year old by the name of Jarome Iginla was often overlooked. Not because of his ability or lack of skill, but due to the stacked roster of this team.
Despite all that, Iggy with that Iggy like mentality flipped a switch on the biggest of stages and put together one of his most memorable performances for the Canadian national team. His two goals and an assist were key in leading Canada back to its winning ways on the international level with a 5-2 victory over the Yankees on their own turf.
